Your role as Field Software Engineer

As a Field Software Engineer at Nutek, you have a versatile role where technology, independence, and customer contact come together. You are the face of Nutek on-site at the customer, often in Europe or North Africa. You commission our traceability machines both software and hardware-wise, provide customer training, perform maintenance, and resolve technical malfunctions. You are also involved in adapting and developing customer-specific software.

Before your work in the field begins, you will go through a 5 to 6-month onboarding period at our office in Raamsdonksveer. After that, you will spend about 70% of your time abroad, mainly for projects that last three to five working days. You will be home on weekends.

In addition to executing your own projects, you actively contribute ideas with colleagues, run tests, consult with the software team in Singapore, and work on improvements. So you are not just a programmer, but also a technical consultant, project coordinator, and customer trainer all in one.

Your main responsibilities:

• Designing customer-specific software solutions and presenting them to customers.
• Creating flowcharts for the proposed solutions/specifications. For example, database connections, MES systems, API implementation, DLL integration, RS232, logfiles, etc.
• Commissioning our traceability machines and providing training on location throughout Europe (you are home on weekends). In consultation, we find the right balance between international travel, internal work at our office in Raamsdonksveer, and your home situation.
• Meetings with other software engineers in the Netherlands and Singapore.
• Independently programming customer-specific software (C#) (PC).
• Proposing improvement points to the production and software team.
• Providing support to customers from our office in Raamsdonksveer.
• Ensuring a sustainable relationship with the customer.

Your profile

You are technically minded, solution-oriented, and love variety. Whether you are an experienced mechanic, software engineer, or a technician at heart, you know how to take responsibility. As a Field Software Engineer, you are responsible for the progress of your projects on-site. This requires independence, assertiveness, and a proactive attitude. You don’t wait around—you take action. Whether in customer contact, solving a malfunction, or adjusting software.
You enjoy working with technology but also value being in contact with people. You don’t mind being on the road regularly—you see travel more as variety than a burden. You are customer-oriented and prefer to think in solutions rather than problems.

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

• Experience with programming languages such as C#, Delphi, Java, C++, and/or Visual Basic, structured text.
• Education and/or demonstrable experience in Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science, or Mechatronics.
• An independent and assertive work attitude.
• As a Field Software Engineer, you are willing to travel abroad and be partly at the office.
• Knowledge of databases in combination with SQL/MYSQL is a plus.
• You are accurate, customer- and solution-oriented.
• You have a good command of Dutch and English, German is a plus.
